University of Manchester & Manchester Metropolitan Join hundreds of young people to get informed, learn skills and share ideas to tackle the problems facing our generation

Now is our moment to make a change. This is your chance to come together with young people from all over the UK. Learn skills, find positive solutions and hold our leaders to account for a just and sustainable future for our generation.

Shared Planet is a weekend event full of inspiring speakers, practical and informative workshops, debates, films, stalls and fun.

Get ready to:

  • Gain skills – Take part in practical workshops and learn skills for a just and low carbon future.
  • Get creative – Learn creative ways to campaign using art, drama and poetry.
  • Challenge – Hear from top MPs from all parties and quiz them on rebuilding our economy, our climate and our future.
  • Take action – Make your voice heard in a massive campaign action.
  • Meet others – Make links and share ideas with young people like you.
  • …And party – Dance to live bands and DJs and make friends at the Shared Planet party.

Film Showing: Invisible Children

Invisible Children will be holding a free screening of their latest documentary about the longest running war in Africa, the civil war in Northern Uganda and the child soldiers that continue to be abducted and forced in the rebel army there. The film will be followed by a Q&A session about what is happening currently in Uganda and what Invisible Children are doing to help.

Non-Violent Direct Action Workshop

On Wednesday 14th Oct at 2pm in Buffers (the backroom of Solus in the Students’ Union)  someone from the P&P head-office is coming down to do a workshop on NVDA.

If you are interested in finding out more about good techniques for NVDA, and also about your legal rights and how to interact with police, then this workshop is definitely for you.
