People & Planet is the largest, student network in Britain campaigning to end world poverty, defend human rights and protect the environment.
Cardiff People and Planet is (unsurprisingly) the Cardiff group in this network. We meet on a weekly basis and campaign on a wide range of issues, some aimed at government and others aimed at our university and other local authorities.
Recent campaigns have included raising awareness issues surrounding access to HIV/Aids drugs, encouraging Cardiff University to improve its environmental performance and also remove investments from armaments, and highlighting the unethical operations of companies such as Top Shop, and the Royal Bank of Scotland.
Although we receive support from the network we retain our autonomy and our campaigning is often in response to local issues.
We do also like to have some fun as a group, and organise regular socials aswell as having the odd post-meeting pint.
